RETURN! Ancient Wisdom from the Minor Prophets
Sunday, January 11-Sunday, February 8
“Minor” prophets with MAJOR impact! Join us this January for a new sermon series drawing from the books of Hosea, Joel, Amos, Habakkuk, and Malachi—five of the twelve Minor Prophets. Together, we’ll discover how their ancient words still call us to faithfulness, justice, and hope today. We’ll also explore their place in the Bible and how these prophetic books came to be. Join us every Sunday—in person or online!

Sips and Saints: Theo of Golden
Thursday, January 15th, 6PM
Our next Sips and Saints selection is already sparking conversation everywhere—and for good reason. Theo of Golden by Allen Levi has been called the “perfect book club book,” landing at #6 on the New York Times Paperback Trade Fiction list and #1 on Amazon’s Southern Fiction list. Mark your calendar and plan to join us on Thursday, January 15 at 6:00 PM for our next gathering of Sips and Saints at the home of Barbara Tilghman. All are welcome—whether you’ve read every page or are just curious to listen in. Bring along any beverages or shareables you’d like, and come ready for thoughtful conversation and good fellowship

Dementia-Friendly Church Training
Sunday, January 18th following worship
Join us on Sunday, January 18, following worship, for a special training led by staff from the University of Kentucky Sanders-Brown Center on Aging as we take an important step toward becoming a dementia-friendly church. With one in ten adults over 65 affected by dementia in the U.S., there is a growing need for compassionate, informed communities. This training will help us learn how to recognize symptoms and support those living with dementia, their families, and caretakers.

We’ll gather upstairs for our luncheon, so there will be plenty of room to relax, visit, and enjoy great food and fellowship. Souper Bowl Sunday
Sunday, February 8, following worship
POSTPONED! New Date TBD
We don’t know who’s playing yet, but we’ll bring the soup—and the soul! 🥣🏈 Join us after worship on February 8 for WHC’s annual Souper Bowl Sunday, a beloved tradition that combines fellowship, good food, and giving back. Enjoy homemade soups and chilis lovingly prepared by members of the congregation as we raise awareness of food insecurity and support God’s Pantry Food Bank. WHC has participated in Souper Bowl Sunday since 2007, and last year we raised $950—can we make it a touchdown-worthy $1,000 this year? How to Give: 1) Donate by check (memo: “Souper Bowl”) 2) Give online by selecting “Souper Bowl Sunday”
Want to bring soup or chili?
Please contact the church office at office@walnuthillchurchky.org to let us know what you plan to bring. We’ll keep a running list to help prevent duplicates. Oyster crackers and sides are also welcome! Come hungry, give generously, and enjoy this fun and meaningful WHC tradition together. 💙
