This year, our Advent sermon series, NATIVITY, A Promise Fulfilled, which focuses on Luke, Chapter One, exploring God’s fulfillment of two remarkable promises: the miraculous birth of a child to Elizabeth and Zechariah, and, of course, the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Come and experience the hope, joy, and wonder of this sacred season with our church family.

Annual Christmas Pageant
Sunday, December 14th at 11AM

We are thrilled to present our annual Christmas Pageant, “The Greatest Gift,” to the WHC congregation on Sunday, December 14th in Trinity Hall! All are invited—bring your family and friends for a joyful morning of fellowship, lighthearted theatre, and Christmas songs.

A reminder to parents: our final rehearsal and costume fitting for all participating children will take place on Saturday, December 13th at 10:00 a.m. If your child would like to join the pageant, please contact our Christian Education Coordinator, Hope Beers.

*NEW* Garland Party/200 feet Project!
Saturday, December 6th, 9AM-12PM

Let’s kick off the holiday season with festive fellowship and a fun challenge for a good cause! This year, we’re setting an audacious goal — to string 200 feet of fresh garland along Walnut Hill’s beautiful stone entrance and gates for Christmas. We’d love your help to make it happen! All ages are welcome — no crafting skills required! Come anytime between 9 and noon to help string a few feet of garland while enjoying warm drinks, tasty nibbles, and great company. We’ll provide the wire and greenery; just bring your own clippers, gloves, family, and friends!

And don’t forget your SOCKS! Our partners at The Nathaniel Mission and The Catholic Action Center are in need of winter socks for those experiencing homelessness. We’re aiming to collect or purchase 100 pairs — that’s 200 feet?! We can do this!

Annual Christmas Potluck
Sunday, December 7th, following worship

Mark your calendars—our annual Christmas Potluck is coming up on December 7! After worship, head over to Trinity Hall for a delicious spread featuring fried chicken generously provided by the Martins and the Hilliards.

We’re inviting everyone—members, friends, and guests—to bring a favorite dish to share. Let’s fill the tables with holiday cheer (and plenty of casseroles!). Be sure to sign up on our Christmas Potluck Google Sheet. We can’t wait to celebrate with you! 🎅✨

Tates Creek Community Pop-Up
NOW Tuesday, March 31st at 5PM

Join us for our first Community Pop-Up, taking place across from Appian Way Apartments, 3645 Appian Way. At this event, WHC volunteers will serve pizza to area residents while intentionally connecting with parents and children in the neighborhood. This evening is all about building relationships, sharing a meal, and creating a joyful presence in the community. We’ll have bubble wands, chalk, and games available—so come ready to jump in and play! WHC will provide the pizza and volunteers, but donations of games, extra bubbles, or chalk are always welcome. Trivia Night at WHC
Wednesday, March 11th at 6PM

Are you ready to put your knowledge to the test? Join us for our very first Trivia Night at Walnut Hill, hosted by Local Trivia Action—known for their engaging and energetic trivia events at local favorites like Boonedogs, Mirror Twin Brewing, and Luna’s Cafe. Gather your friends and family and come enjoy an evening filled with fun, friendly competition, and great food! You can expect a wide variety of trivia categories, from sports and pop culture to the Bible; a delicious hot potato and chili bar provided by McAlister’s Deli; FREE onsite childcare for participating families, and prizes awarded to our top teams! Souper Bowl Sunday

We don’t know who’s playing yet, but we’ll bring the soup—and the soul! 🥣🏈 Join us after worship on February 8 for WHC’s annual Souper Bowl Sunday, a beloved tradition that combines fellowship, good food, and giving back. Enjoy homemade soups and chilis lovingly prepared by members of the congregation as we raise awareness of food insecurity and support God’s Pantry Food Bank. WHC has participated in Souper Bowl Sunday since 2007, and last year we raised $950—can we make it a touchdown-worthy $1,000 this year? Sips and Saints: Sensible Shoes
Monday, March 16th, 6PM

Join us in March for Sips and Saints as we read Sensible Shoes by Sharon Garlough Brown—a recommendation from one of our own congregation members and a book that’s sure to spark meaningful conversation. This beloved Christian novel follows four women, each at a different stage of life, as they explore their spiritual journeys during a retreat in Michigan. Their stories invite us to reflect on our own faith, questions, and growth. Mark your calendar for Monday, March 16th at 6:00 PM, and join us at the home of Margaret Wharton for an evening of thoughtful discussion and warm fellowship. Bring a beverage or shareable if you’d like, and come ready for good conversation and community.

Sing Along with the Boy Scouts
Tuesday, December 16th at 7PM

Join Scoutmaster Mark Horman and local Lexington Boy Scouts for campfire caroling at Walnut Hill Church! Sing along to your favorite traditional Christmas songs while sipping warm drinks and enjoying tasty treats. Bring the whole family for a cozy, festive evening you won’t want to miss!

Family Essentials at Millcreek Elementary
Wednesday + Thursday, March 25-26th, Time TBA

WHC will host a Family Essentials table to support local families in meaningful and practical ways during spring conferences at Millcreek Elementary School (1212 Reva Ridge Way). Many Millcreek families are in need of basic household items, and WHC is stepping in to help meet those needs. In the weeks leading up to conferences, we will collect essential household goods for families to take with them as they attend. At the event, volunteers will staff the Family Essentials table, distribute collected household items, and connect with families and learn more about their needs. Please let us know if you would like to serve at the table by filling out this form! Our Amazon Wish-List of needed items can be found here. You can also donate financially to this cause on our online portal!

Parents’ Night Out
Wednesday, December 17th (Evening, Time TBD)

Back by popular demand . . . Let your little ones dive into a festive flurry of Christmas crafts, activities, and fun—while you take an evening to wrap gifts, run errands, or even enjoy a special dinner for two! Hope and her crew will keep the kiddos well-fed and fully entertained at the church, ending the night with a joyful birthday cake for Jesus. Adult Christmas Party
Sunday, December 21st @ 5pm (Hosted by the Cornett’s)

A special occasion to enjoy each other’s company, this evening is an opportunity to toast new and old friends during the most wonderful time of the year. We’ll gather at the home of Kip and Ellen Cornett. Folks who are able are asked to bring a festive dish to share.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
Wednesday, December 24th at 5PM

Join us on this holy night as we celebrate the birth of Jesus—Light of the World, Emmanuel, God with Us. Our prayer is that each person who gathers will experience the depth of God’s great love for us.

This special family-friendly service welcomes worshippers of all ages, and battery-operated candles will be provided for everyone. We look forward to celebrating together!

Christmas String Quartet
Sunday, December 28th, during worship

We are delighted to share that, thanks to the generous gift of an anonymous donor, a string quartet will join us for worship at Walnut Hill Church on the first Sunday after Christmas, December 28. The musicians will play from 10:45 AM through announcement time and again during the postlude. We invite you to come and receive this special offering of music—a Christmas gift from God and a blessing lovingly shared with our WHC family.

Ladies’ Luncheon @ The KY Castle
Tuesday, December 30th, 11:30AM

Join the WHC Ladies’ Lunch Group for our festive December outing! This month, we’ll be gathering at the iconic Kentucky Castle for a dining experience that’s truly one of a kind. The Castle promises “an experience rooted in Kentucky heritage and elevated with culinary creativity,” featuring a thoughtful property-to-plate philosophy that highlights ingredients grown on the Kentucky Castle Farm.

Come enjoy wonderful food, beautiful surroundings, and the company of friends as we celebrate the season together!

2025 Walk to End Alzheimer’s, Sunday October 5

Walnut Hill church family and friends know all too well the impacts of this dreadful disease. Consider marking your calendar to walk. All funds raised through the walk further the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Kentucky Horse Park. Event Opens at 1:30 – Ceremony at 2:30 – Walk at 3:00.

CROP Walk, Sunday October 12

This annual tradition helps raise funds and raise awareness for God’s Food Pantry and Church World Services – two organizations working to minimize food insecurities and much, much more.

Nell Horman leads the Walnut Hill team each year, and never disappoints. Walkers of all ages can easily participate in this community event. Mark your calendar and stay tuned for more details.

Men’s Breakfast, Saturday October 25, 8:30AM

Men of all ages are invited to start the day off with some tasty breakfast basics and fellowship. Nothing fancy. For those interested, we’ll cook at 8am.  Should be ready to serve about 8:30am. Just show up at any point and enjoy. Trinity Hall at Walnut Hill. Saturday, October 25. Hope to see you there!

WHC Annual Safari, Now Sunday October 26

DUE TO A FORECAST OF RAIN, THE DATE OF THE SAFARI HAS BEEN CHANGED TO OCTOBER 26th!

You don’t want to miss this. A fan favorite for all ages.

Hospitality to the hilt, Derek and team share their hearts and home so we can enjoy autumn in Kentucky at its peak. This casual gathering is a chance for Walnut Hill members and friends to feast and fellowship, hike, carve pumpkins and enjoy the majestic colors of fall together. Festivities start directly after worship services, so wear your hiking gear and meet us there!
