Apr. 19, 2021:
Thanks to all who joined us in person or virtually for worship on Sunday, as well as children and youth who gathered for lessons and activities. Special thanks to Larry (organ), Julie (live stream), Amanda, Jacqueline, Meredith and Brian (children/youth), John and Chris (greeters/ushers), Ginger (flowers). Thanks also to all those present in person for their patience with covid protocols as we experience worship in person, indoors, in these pandemic days (see below). In case you missed it, you can view the 11am service on the Walnut Hill Church Facebook page. Thanks to our “online congregation” for their patience with the internet “drop” on Sunday.
Worship IN-SANCTUARY on Sunday, April 25 – Barring a dramatic change in local pandemic conditions, worship will continue in the Sanctuary on Sunday, April 18. There will be several covid-related protocols in practice such as face coverings and distancing in the Sanctuary. We ask that you attend only if you are symptom free, have not recently been exposed to anyone with the coronavirus, and have considered that attending is safe for you and your household. It is not necessary for you to rsvp regarding your plans to attend, but remember that the Sanctuary will have limited capacity, seating will be first come/first seated, and persons arriving after the Sanctuary is full will be invited to Trinity Hall for shared viewing of the worship live stream. For persons unable to attend in person, the service will be live streamed on the Walnut Hill Facebook page.
Seeking VOLUNTEERS – YOUR HELP IS NEEDED if we are to provide a quality faith formation program for our children/youth. Particularly we are looking for volunteers to lead our elementary class on Sunday mornings. Sunday volunteers will be provided all they need (lesson plans, activities, etc) to spend a wonderful hour with the children. No previous experience required. Visit the Sunday School Sign-Up and volunteer for a Sunday or two. Amanda will follow up with you regarding the details. The children will enjoy your presence, and you will enjoy being with them. Special thanks to Heather, Brian, Nell, Natalie and Ginger who have been first to sign up. We hope that many will follow their example.
Circulation Plan Campaign – Our campaign to complete the “Circulation Plan,” including the driveway and other infrastructure needs, is now underway. Use reply email if you have questions about the work ahead, and we will put you in touch with the person who can answer your questions. Thanks in advance for your support of this important effort.
“Imagine! God’s Earth and People Restored” is the theme of this year’s Ecumenical Advocacy Days, April 18-21, which is ongoing at this time. Mike Ward is attending “virtually.”
Backpack Ministry – Walnut Hill has committed to support students/families at Brenda Cowan Elementary School through the Walnut Hill Backpack Ministry. We are currently providing 50 backpacks per week for students. Visit Backpack Ministry for information on how you can be part of this important work through food donations and other support. You may bring food items to Walnut Hill on Saturday/Sunday mornings between 9am and Noon, or contact the church office to arrange a convenient pick-up or delivery time.
A Visit? Mike is available for in-person visits (with appropriate social distancing and face coverings) at your request. Use reply email or call the church office (859-263-5304) to schedule a visit.
Online/Text Giving – Online and text giving to Walnut Hill are now available for those who might prefer the convenience of electronic giving. You can access online giving via the “Give” tab of the Walnut Hill website and text giving via 859-354-3919. Whether by traditional check/cash or electronic donation, thanks to all who continue to be very generous in their support of Walnut Hill’s life and ministry.
Peace be with you.
